SoC implementation of wireless multimedia communication systems
Research Engineer: Mark McKeown
Sponsor: Amphion
Academic Supervision: Dr David Cruickshank and Dr Iain Lindsay, University of Edinburgh
The project aims to research, architect, implement and verify system-level IP solutions for SoC implementations of wireless multimedia communications systems, such as wireless multimedia terminals. This will involve hardware, software and system level design, with a detailed understanding of the integration of such solutions into typical SoCs for these applications.
The project will identify generic architectural building blocks, which can be used across a broad range of these applications. Research will be verified by the creation of system demonstrators suitable for both SoC and FPGA implantation.
A marketing study of the opportunities in these areas will also form part of the project, looking at what areas or aspects the major opportunities exist in and what the company needs to do to make best use of these opportunities.
