Coverage and performance of powerline modems
Research Engineer: Steve Collins
Sponsor: Gigle
Academic Supervision: Dr Robert Henderson and Dr David Renshaw, University of Edinburgh
Industrial Supervision: Jed Hurwitz and Roger Monteith
This project proposal will investigate ways and methods of maximising the coverage and performance of powerline modems. Three areas of research will be addressed:
- Optimising coupling and associated interface circuitry
- Powerline network modeling and understanding of topologies and characteristics
- Exploiting MESH/Ad-hoc techniques to maximize coverage
Each area of research will involve a year of full-time study, carried out at Gigle’s offices in Edinburgh.
